It's just amazing to me how out of touch so many of our politicians are and how they prove it day after day.Are they In a contest to see who come up with the craziest idea and get it passed into law?
I couldn't believe it when I read this in our Senator's newsletter this past week.

Collins promotes vouchers for car trade-in programfrom MPBN: "This bill is particularly helpful to the state of Maine," says Senator Collins. Collins is sponsoring the bill with fellow Senators Dianne Feinstein of California and Charles Schumer of New York, both Democrats.
"We Mainers drive our cars for a long time, so we have a lot of old cars on the road. It's disproportionate compared to other states, and this would be a welcome boost to a lot of Mainers who have not been able to buy a better car with better mileage," Collins says.
The senators' plan says that trade-ins must represent an improvement of at least seven miles per gallon for cars. But what about trucks? A recent report on Maine's top selling models showed that light trucks hold the top four spots.
"There are also incentives in our bill to help pepole afford more fuel-efficient trucks," Collins says. "For example, if the mileage of the newly-purchased truck or SUV is at least nine miles per gallon better than the old truck or SUV, the consumer could qualify for a voucher of $4,500."Read more >>
Where is the $4,500 dollars gonna come from? There is only one place it can, thats tax dollars. So we tax payers are gonna now help for people to buy new cars if they car is a big enough upgrade on fuel mileage, thats just crazy.
How can Sen.Collins really think this is a good idea ?Shouldn't the co-sponsors of the bill tip her off that this is just another welfare hand out?
How is this even part of what the federal government is supposed to be involved in to begin with?
